“I wrote Silver Skies to hold back a Nazi holocaust in the United States and to honor actor Brent Spiner, who’s endured hell in his love life because of his love for me. All characters are fictional, but this story’s conflict of David versus Goliath reflects my life”

Silver Skies is the first and, currently, only book by Gail Chord Schuler. It was written over a period of 12 years, from 1993 to 2005, and was released for public consumption in early 2009. Much like Brice Taylor's Starshine; One Woman's Valiant Escape from Mind Control, Silver Skies is a fiction book intended to relay secret truths about the nature of the world. In the case of Silver Skies, these truths concern the Order of the Jesuits and its role in transforming America into an authoritarian state. Also, how much Gail wants to fuck Brent Spiner.

Plot

Silver Skies is the story of a born-again Christian whose love for a Jewish man is repeatedly stymied by the man's heartless shark of a wife and the machinations of the Jesuit Order. Dor, while transporting rifles for use by his militia, is run off the road by a Jesuit assassin. He ends up in the hospital where Brianna, his long-lost love, works as a nurse. They reconnect and Brianna helps him heal, all the while dealing with Jesuit interference and assassination attempts. Unfortunately, though Dor and Brianna love each other, Dor is already married to another woman and infidelity is strictly forbidden in both Dor and Brianna's religions.

Over the course of the book, Dor and Gail's families are slowly picked apart by Jesuit machinations and Brianna is forced out of one job after another. Dor's brother in law is framed for a terrorist attack, his mother is falsely arrested, and his nephew imprisoned for no reason. At the same time, Aaron Segal begins courting Gail, with the intent to marry her. He uses his money and power to buy her lots of flowers, invite her to state fairs, and feed her pot brownies. However, the love between Brianna and Dor proves stronger than Aaron's wiles. Aaron, frustrated with Brianna's refusal of his advances, begins pranking her, using edited video to convince most of the world that Brianna has married him.

When the story reaches its lowest point, when liberty in America is dead and Brianna and Dor are stretched to their breaking point, the book takes a surreal turn. Rachel is struck by lightning. Dor and Brianna run away to the pristine wilderness of Yellowstone, but are followed by an eerie, driverless car. Then the rapture happens.

Characters

The Habakkuk Family

Dor Ben Habakkuk - An Conservative Jewish rabbi and leader of an anti-government militia. He is consumed with regret over not marrying Brianna Wilhelm out of his desire to have a Jewish wife. He is the frequent target of Jesuit attacks due to his relationship with Brianna and his unpopular political beliefs.

Rachel Habakkuk - A heartless, cruel, mercenary Jesuit agent who loves crushing Dor's heart almost as much as she loves money. She, through threats of divorce, withholding of money, and sabotaging of medical care, attempts to harm, even kill, Dor as a means of disrupting the relationship between Dor and Brianna. She is eventually struck by lightning and killed. Her reason for following the NWO: "You've never starved on the street."

Eva Habakkuk - The daughter of Dor and Rachel. Happy, energetic, and an all-around terrific kid. Is only relevant to the story to the extent that Rachel uses her as a bargaining chip during attempts to destroy the relationship between Dor and Gail. Goes to live with Danielle after Rachel's lightning immolation.

Ruth Habakkuk - Ben's mother. She is framed for growing Marijuana and selling it to minors. She is arrested by the NWO and turned into a computer-controlled cyborg puppet.

The Tischler Family

Danielle Tischler - Dor's sister.

Stephen Tischler - Dor's brother in law. A patriotic militia-member who is framed for the bombing of the Dallas Federal Building. He is burned to death in a mysterious prison fire.

Isaac Tischler - Danielle's son. Is arrested and experimented upon in the NWO's concentration camps. He is starved to the point of appearing like a skeletal holocaust victim and is last seen as a rail-thin corpse pockmarked with electrical burns.

The Wilhelm Family

Brianna Wilhelm - The most kind-hearted, wonderful person on the planet. She loves saving lives as a Registered Nurse, teaching children real history rather than Jesuit lies, and Dor, the love of her life. She is endlessly frustrated with Jesuit interference.

Franz Wilhelm - Brianna's father. A private detective, motivational speaker, new-age mystic, and NWO operative who loves, but is frequently frustrated by, his born-again Christian daughter. At first, he loves working for the NWO and enjoys the perks his position provides. Later, he becomes disillusioned with their aims and regrets ever joining. His relationship with NWO agent Jackie Reis ultimately destroys his marriage.

Paula Wilhelm - Brianna's mother. A loving mother with no extreme religious beliefs one way or the other. She tolerates her husband's involvement in the NWO while also supporting Brianna's conversion to Christianity, even welcoming the opportunity to hang Brianna's creepy Christian rapture paintings in the family home. She is emotionally crushed by her husband's infidelity. She is eventually kidnapped by the Jesuits, shipped to India, and replaced with a clone.

Dr. Tyson Wilhelm - Brianna's older brother by 15 years. Is a cancer surgeon at the War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. He was recruited for the position, and the NWO, by Aaron Segal after Tyson's violent temper cost him a job and almost cost him his medical license. He is a closeted gay or bisexual engaged in an affair with another doctor at his hospital.

Siegfried - A spirit Franz occasionally contacts during seances. Franz believes Siegfried to be the ghost of his great-grandfather. Brianna believes him to be a demon. Neither is conclusively proven correct but, given that Siegfried inspired Franz to join the NWO, Brianna was probably right.

Others

Dr. Aaron Segal - A charming, handsome, wealthy, brilliant, life-saving surgeon who is absolutely mad about Gail. Over the course of the book, he attempts to seduce her and sabotage her relationship with Dor. It is later revealed that he is not only the leader of the NWO, but also the antichrist.

Lars Vandenberg - A powerful senator, well-connected NWO member, and occasional gay lover of Aaron Segal. He is instrumental in the Jesuits' plans to enact gun control legislation and use the United States in order to take over the world. He is friends with Franz, but will not guarantee Brianna's safety unless Franz finds a way to break up her relationship with Dor.

Jacqueline "Jackie" Reis - An actress with sparkling blue eyes, auburn tresses pulled high into a glittering crown, glowing white teeth, and a Masters degree in Public Administration. She was groomed to be the partner of Franz Wilhelm, but is later assigned to Lars Vandenberg after Franz falls out of favor with the organization.

Felipe Rodriguez - Was once the leader of the Jesuit Order. Then he took a bullet to the knee. He decided to tell his girlfriend Estella all of the Order's secrets. The Order, an organization that likes its secrets, kidnapped her and faked her death. Felipe, thinking his girlfriend was actually executed, fled the Order. An Order sniper caught up with him at a Meyerland, Texas shopping center and wounded him. Felipe eventually finds shelter at Dor's synagogue and later moves into Dor's basement.

Jeff Sullivan - A spoiled brat atheist and son of the Mayor. Falsely accuses his religious classmates of prosthelytizing. Makes it impossible for his classmates to bring their bibles and kippah to school. Receives no punishment due to his father's political power.

The Blue Car - A blue, driverless car that constantly stalks Dor and Brianna during their Yellowstone vacation, constantly interrupting their attempts to have sex.

Themes

Silver Skies is heavily informed by the writings of various figures from the American Patriot Movement of the mid-1990s. The America of Silver Skies is one in which an out of control federal government, controlled by the New World Order, enacts gun-control legislation in order to prepare America for their domination.

Obvious Problems

Monotony

Silver Skies is a monotonous clunker of a book. Every interaction between Dor and Rachel goes as follows:

Rachel: I am going to do this hurtful thing to you.

Dor: No! Please do not do this!

Rachel: I will. Militias are dumb and you are too close to Brianna.

Dor: I disagree! Militias are not dumb and Brianna is the best person ever!

Rachel: Fine. I will not do the hurtful thing as long as you leave the militia and distance yourself from Brianna.

Dor: No!

Rachel: Very well. I will now do three quarters of the hurtful thing. You had better do what I say or the final quarter will follow!

Dor: Oh woe is me! My life is unending torture! Brianna is the only thing that makes me happy!

Repeat ad-infinitum.

Inconsistency of the Powers of the Jesuit Order

If the Jesuit Order is so powerful, why don't they just shoot Dor in the brain instead of crashing his car and attempting to poison him?

Sudden Introduction of Technologies and Plot Elements

The fact that Brianna's mother has been replaced with a clone is mentioned exactly once. No mention of cloning technology or the complicity of the Jesuits in kidnapping and cloning was made before or after.

Silver Skies: The Movie!

Silver Skies is also an award-winning motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg. The part of Dor was played by Matthew McConaughey and the part of Brianna was played by Brianna Jenkins. Matthew McConaughey won a "private" Academy Award for his work.
